Daily Forex Reports

This section includes news and reports about the financial and trading activity during the Asian and the US sessions.

The Asian markets are naturally the first markets to see activity/action at the beginning of each day. The main countries that constitute most of the trading volume during this period are Japan, China, Australia, New Zealand and Russia. Considering how scattered these markets are, with regards to time, many traders consider the Asian markets to be most active/liquid between 21:00 – 06:00 GMT.
Within this trading session, the most popular pairs traded include USDJPY, EURJPY, and EURUSD, of which USDJPY would tend to be the most active since the Japanese Yen is a major international currency.

The US session is generally perceived to commence at 12:00 GMT and run as late as 21:00 GMT. The US session overlaps the European session by a number of hours (between 12:00 – 16:00 GMT) and subsequently, it is the norm for the markets to experience high volatility during these hours.

The US session is dominated by the activity in the USA and will typically commence with news releases such as U.S. Home Sales, Trade Balances, CPI, PPI and so forth. The most influential news release is called the Non-Farm Payroll (NFP) which is released on the 1st Friday of each month. Within this trading session, the most popular pairs traded include EURUSD, GBPUSD, EURGBP, and USDCAD.

Commodities Reports

Commodities Reports and News is a section dedicated to the commodities of Oil and Gold.
Gold is seen by many traders as a safe haven commodity and has been seeking more and more by investors over the past decade and a half – a reflection that can be seen from the exponential movement of the precious metal’s value since 2000. Gold is valued per ounce and its trading hours are between 23:00 GMT on Sunday and 21:45 GMT Friday.

Oil has also been increasingly in demand over the past few decades. Oil prices prior to 1970 were stable; then in the mid-1970s, the industry exploded. Technological advances and the political landscape contributed to the uncertainty, lack of stability, shortages and rising prices. Some 30 years later, prices have skyrocketed to reach more than USD 140 per barrel (2008)! Oil is valued per barrel and its trading hours are between 22:00 GMT on Sunday and 20:10 GMT Friday.
